I think this caters for compressed codecs where each frame/packet may
be smaller or larger than the first - The original code assumes that
all frames are equally sized and sets a buffer based on the first
packet.
Unfortunately the patch in bristuff is broken, and causes a kind of
reset of the channel if the packet size changes, and if it is
changing, it is generally changing quite often - I have a fix
somewhere that I needed for one customer, but I don't think I use it
at the moment so it might take some finding.
